Growing community through fresh veggies for 10 whole years!

A lot can happen in a decade.

Our team, our crops, our farm and programs: everything has grown and matured. Little ones who planted starts on the farm have become high school students and farmers market volunteers. Odie the puppy is now Odie the dog.

We couldn't do it without you, the Seed to Table community. Our volunteers, food bank customers, produce share eaters, and farmers market shoppers. Donors, sponsors, students, educators from around Central Oregon. Board members, nonprofit partners, local media such as The Nugget. Our many helpers and vendors — and of course, our amazing team.

Keep on reading to see photos from years past. Learn how to celebrate with us this summer—and how to help Seed to Table grow another ten years.

A Bountiful Decade: the Growing of Seed to Table

A love of gardening and a deep feeling of kinship for her community brought Audrey Tehan back to her hometown of Sisters after college. Invited to teach local students about farming, she founded Seed to Table ten years ago.

Folks know the farm's salad greens and radishes, garlic scapes and broccolini. Many don't realize the extent of its reach… Continue reading “A Bountiful Decade”

10 years, three program areas

K–12 Education

Amongst the rows of beets and tomatoes, students walk, dig, and learn, perhaps pulling up their first farm-fresh carrot.

Children and youth from throughout Central Oregon come to our farm, which hosts 1,550 students-visits each year. Students plant seedlings, then return for transplanting and harvest.

Along the way they taste-test, explore, and learn about compost science, plant biology, and food systems.

Feeding Our Community

Using sustainable agriculture techniques, our farm produces over 75,000 pounds of naturally grown veggies every year, distributed to some 750 people each week.

Folks pick up their CSA-style produce shares on our farm, buy from our booth at the farmers market, and access our veggies through partners—food pantries, Sisters School District, Family Access Network, Kiwanis Food Bank, and Wellhouse Market among them.

We try to meet individuals, families, children, and youth where they are, providing food access along with information and education about how to prepare, cook, and store their fresh local veggies.

Sisters Farmers Market

Every Sunday in season, locals and visitors alike gather for fresh local veggies, eggs, meats, artisanal goods, music, and educational activities. The market provides essential infrastructure for local food systems—and a gathering place for makers, artists, farmers, and ranchers.

This is our fourth year providing leadership and management for the market. Join us! Sisters Farmers Market takes place June–September, 10 am to 2 pm at Fir Street Park. SNAP/EBT and Dubl-Up Food Bucks are accepted; check in at the Info Booth to get started.

Find our Seed to Table farm booth if you’d like to say hi and load up on fresh produce. Be sure to check out the other farmers, ranchers, and artists too! Learn more at sistersfarmersmarket.com.
